Sutab® Prep Afternoon Procedure

Sutab is a split dose (2-day) regimen. A total of 24 tablets are required for a complete colonoscopy prep. You will take the tablets in two doses of 12 tablets each. Water must be consumed with each dose of sutab, and additional water must be consumed after each dose!


1 Day Before Procedure:

  • Clear liquids ONLY all day. No solid food.

Clear liquids include water, clear sodas, coffee (no milk or creamer), tea, gelatin (no red or purple), chicken or beef broth, clear juices (apple, white grape), and popsicles (without fruit).

NO RED OR PURPLE! NO MILK! NO ALCOHOL!

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU DRINK AS MUCH FLUID AS YOU CAN THROUGHOUT THE DAY UNTIL MIDNIGHT.

  • 5:00 pm Open 1 bottle of 12 tablets.

Fill the provided container with 16 oz of water (to the fill line)

Swallow each tablet with a sip of water, and drink the entire amount for over 15-20minutes.

If you experience nausea, bloating, or cramping, you may pause or slow the rate of drinking the additional water until your symptoms diminish.

  • Approximately 1 hour after the last tablet was ingested, fill the provided container with 16 oz of water and drink the entire amount over the next 30 minutes.
  • Approximately 30 minutes after completing the second container of water, fill the provided container again with another 16 oz of water and drink the entire amount over the next 30 minutes.

You may continue to drink clear liquids until you begin your next dose at 1:00 am.


Day of Procedure:

  • 5:00 am Open the second bottle of 12 tablets.

Swallow each tablet with a sip of water, and drink the entire amount for over 15-20minutes.

  • Approximately 1 hour after the last tablet was ingested, fill the provided container with 16 oz of water and drink the entire amount over the next 30 minutes.
  • Approximately 30 minutes after completing the second container of water, fill the provided container again with another 16 oz of water and drink the entire amount over the next 30 minutes.

Nothing by mouth after the last 16 oz of water until the procedure is complete.

*Take all of your morning medications, if any, with a sip of water

If you are a diabetic, call your primary care physician for dosage changes the day before your procedure.

On the day of your procedure, DO NOT TAKE YOUR DIABETIC MEDICATIONS & CHECK YOUR BLOOD SUGAR.

Bring a driver. You will be here for approximately 2 hours. If you do not have a driver, your procedure will be canceled.
